Alice in Wonderland: Wonderful Fancy Dress Costumes

Was the classic story of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland one of your faves when you were a child?

It was definitely one of mine!

What fun she had as well as a good deal of danger as makes her way through Wonderland. Did it really happen or was it just a dream?

Whatever the answer, you may want become Alice this Halloween and or you may prefer to be a bit more evil and become the Queen of Hearts.

 

Alice in Wonderland 

Is a perennial favorite for women’s costumes. If you are looking for a sexier slant than the little girl look, this year there have been a few new releases mostly in the light blue color. See pictured right.

This is the innocent, cutesy look but with a shorter skirt or a bit low cut. Some of these sport thigh high stay up stockings with the high Mary Jane shoes.

You know, the ones with the strap across the instep. This is the quintessential Alice in Wonderland look.

You can get the costumes in the darker blue color if that suits you better.

Feeling a bit more evil than cute then go for the Queen of Hearts!

She spent most of her time screaming “off with their heads” and presumably because hearts on a deck of playing cards are red, her costumes are traditionally red as well.

A great contrast if you ask me.

This costume can also work as a couple as the King or the Knave of Hearts could easily be your partner.

Most of these costumes are long to the ground medieval style dresses but you can definitely find the shorter, sexier versions if you have your heart set on going sexy.

Remember they say that power is the sexiest thing of all and the Queen of Hearts had loads of that.

Another character that immediately comes to mind has a great costume. We're talking of course about the Mad Hatter.

Although the character is male in the movies you can now get a load of options for the ladies!

With a top hat, a short skirt instead of trousers and a variety of different color option, this will certainly turn heads at any party.

If you want to go over to the dark side maybe for a Halloween party you can also get an Alice in Wonderland evil Mad Hatter costume to change things up a bit.

The great thing about all these outfits is that you can also get all manner of accessories to go with them. Some of them come complete, but it's always a good idea to check what is included.

Alternatively you might want to get a cheaper costume and complete it with one or two appropriate accessories. Once you know how much you have to spend you can figure out how much to invest in your outfit.

Batgirl Superhero Costume

There are some fantastic Halloween costume ideas that you can get just from looking at comic books. These are filled with lots of male and female superheroes, which led themselves perfectly to the creation of stunning costumes.  One perfect example that women could choose is a Batgirl costume.

The character of Batgirl appeared in DC comics.  There were several different versions before the most popular reincarnation appeared in 1966. Her alter ego in the comics is called Barbara Gordon and she is the daughter of the Police Commissioner in Gotham City.

This costume is similar in style and color to that of Batman and is available in all sizes so whether you are a woman or an older a teen you will be able to find the perfect size to fit.

The great thing about choosing a Batgirl costume is that you get everything that you need included in the price. The main part of this outfit consists of the black dress.  It is made from a shiny polyester fabric and features the yellow batgirl insignia on the front.  The bottom of the dress has been cut so that it resembles the wings of a bat and depending on who the costume is for, it will either fall just at the knee for young girls and toddlers or it will sit around the thigh area in the adult version.

To compliment the dress, there is also a black cape.  This is already attached to the back of the dress and falls to the same length as the skirt.

Just like her male counterpart, Batgirl also has a utility belt.  This is made from a bright yellow fabric and incorporates the bat insignia which co-ordinates with the bat logo that is on the front of the dress.

The additional accessories that are included with this outfit are the black gauntlets and the black boot tops.  The gauntlets are made to slip onto each arm.

They have some extra detail work that runs along the edging of each one. The boot tops are made from the same shiny material as the dress and have been designed to fit over your boots.

This can look particularly sexy as part of the adult costume especially if you team them with a pair of spiky high heel boots.

The final part of this costume is the eye mask.  Batgirl is a character that needs to ensure that she protects her identity so the mask is essential.

There are several different styles available but most of them have been designed to look like a bat, complete with pointy ears. 

The Batgirl costume is a wonderful option for any female who is trying to decide what fancy dress outfit to wear this Halloween.

This would also make a great choice if you are going as part of a double act with your partner who could dress as Batman.  You would certainly make a gothastic pair.

Wonder Women Costume - Get Some Grrrl Power!

The superhero genre is no longer just for the guys plenty of girls are also getting in on the act!

There are some great superhero Halloween costumes that women can choose and one perfect example is Wonder Woman. She not only has skills, she also looks fabulous using them.

Wonder Women is a fictional comic book character who originally appeared in the early 1940's as part of the DC comic universe. She also had a wildly popular TV series in the seventies starring Lynda Carter.

She was supposed to be a feminist type of character but in more recently times has taken on a much more sexy persona - at least in terms of the way her costume is portrayed.

Wonder Women's real name was Princess Diana of Themyscira and she is an amazon warrior princess, based on Greek Mythology.


A Princess of the Amazons, Diana has several superhuman powers.  These include immense strength, speed and excellent fighting capabilities.

Her weapons include her lasso of truth, her indestructible bracelets, her tiara, which is used as a missile and her invisible airplane.

Wonder Woman is seen as the most popular female superheroes and her costume is definitely a fun choice.

If you are looking for a sexy costume but with a bit of girl power thrown in, then a Wonder Women Halloween Costume is a great choice.

The Wonder Woman Costume

While the Wonder Woman costume is suitable for little girls, tweens and adults.

You can find a costume that has been appropriately designed to be suitable for any of these age groups.

However, today we will be concentrating on a fun and even sexy women's version.

These outfits can vary a little but there are still certain elements that all of these costumes have in common.

The Bodysuit or Mini Dress Option

The main part of this outfit is the bodysuit.  You can choose to either purchase this design as a leotard or as a mini dress version.

Both comprise of a top that is made from red fabric and features the gold emblem of Wonder Woman in the center of the design.

The lower half of the costume is in bright blue and is decorated in little gold stars. To finish off this part of the costume, there is a gold belt in the center known as Wonder Woman's belt of strength.

The Accessories

Wonder Woman's costume has some wonderful accessories which are important to the overall look and style. The following elements are the items that the character uses as defense weapons.

She has her two bullet deflecting bracelets which are silver, her gold lasso of truth and her gold tiara.
The tiara has a red star insignia in the center.

There are plenty of superheroes who have a cape and Wonder Woman belongs in this camp.  Her cape is bright red and is attached by a simple tie. 

The final element of this costume is the boots that Wonder Woman wears. These are bright red with white strips and are made as boot tops so you can easily attach them to your own boots.

Do You Need Wonder Woman Hair?

It isn't completely necessary to have the long luscious locks that the character is known for but if you want to look like the real deal, it is really easy to find a cheap dark brown wig if you take a look online.

Sassy Costumes from the Iron Man Movie Francise

I really loved the Iron Man Movies – I mean I’ve always been a Robert Downey Jr fan and wow is he sexy in those films! I know that I am not alone in thinking this so it will come as no surprise that the Iron Man costumes will be HUGE again this Halloween as they have been for the last few years.

Scarlett Johansson / Black Widow

The Scarlett Johansson Black Widow has definitely got pulses racing.

After all that fabulous deep blue is a great change from the usual black leather most of these type of characters have.

And Scarlett fills it out so well. But where does the character come from?

Black Widow is the creation of the wonderful Stan Lee as part of the Marvel stable.

Her real name is Natasha Romanova and she first appeared in Tales of Suspense comic in 1964! She originally started as a non costumed Soviet spy in a Iron Man comic book but has been associated with several other groups including The Avengers since.

Black Widow played by Scarlett Johansson appeared in the popular movie “The Avengers’, so we will continue to see more of this costume on our big screens.




 

Pepper Potts Costume

The costume on the right is meant to be Pepper Potts, but to me it looks more like an Ironette costume.

The red and gold color way is typical of the fabulous dancing ironettes in the earlier movie.

Pirates of the Caribbean 4: Awesome Pirate Costumes to Shiver Your Timbers!

There's something about pirate themed parties and pirate costumes that always gets the attention. Everyone seems to love pirates! Part of the reason for this is that there is a hugely successful movie franchise that has been wowing movie audiences for years: Pirates of the Caribbean and so far there have been four installments in the franchise

It's not surprising that pirate costumes are incredibly popular to buy for parties of all kinds. They make a great alternative to scary costumes for Halloween, and they're good for all kinds of other occasions as well, from Christmas to birthdays and everything in between.

Captain Jack Sparrow

Of course the main character in Pirates of the Caribbean is Jack Sparrow or Captain Jack Sparrow to give him his full title.

Budget doesn't mean cheap or tatty either and it's a great outfit that certainly does the trick when you want to look good for a pirates party.
